Lizzy Sarnes Ceramics

This piece was create to imply a metaphor or go beyond the artwork itself. I chose to create a moon for several reasons. There is a major mystery behind space and the question of whether or not we are the only planet with life. This moon represents the mystery and years of theories proven wrong about the Earth and outer space. The moon, along with stars and the occassional distant glowing dot of a planet, is the only thing humans are able to see with the naked eye and only until powerful telescopes werebuilt did people finally see that there was much more to the universe than we thought. Space is one of the wonders that we, as humans, will never be able to fully understand or ever fully explore.
